DRUM! Magazine's August issue featured the winners of DRUM!'s 2005 Annual Reader poll. The Drummer of the Year is Tré Cool of Green Day, who led Danny Carey and Travis Barker and perennial favorite Neil Peart (Rush) in overall votes.
Other significant winners included: Dave Weckl (Jazz); Joey Jordison of Slipknot (metal) and Ahmir Thompson (hip-hop). There were 42 categories in all (see following pages). In the hand percussion categories, New York's Bobby Sanabria took top honors. Pearl's Reference drum series was voted the best drum set product and Blink-182 eponymous recording was the drumming album of the year.
